What's new

Alpha Kilo Warrior YouTube Videos

The weather was borderline VFR all morning and I pushed my flight from the morning to 4 hours later in the day. I wanted to get up in the air and just opted for some pattern work, I wasn't going to even film. The winds were shifting all around during my preflight, but the windsock was flopped down and the weather reports were all over the place. I had my mind set on practicing short field landings. I was not expecting to balloon and decided the best thing to do was perform a go around.

When was your last balloon? What did you do? After watching the video would you have tried to salvage the landing?

CLASS C Sight-seeing over the CT River
I think I just had one of the top 3 flights of 2024 so far. I departed KHFD with a squawk code to allow me to perform air work in Class C Airspace over Bradley International Airport. My 1st leg took me over the CT River to the Massachusetts border. I sped the footage up 200% and added the ATC audio and solo-cockpit audio of my experience.

Fall short field landings/departures from IMO one of the most beautiful non-towered airports in Connecticut. See for yourself!

I strapped a GoPro on my head and flew from Hartford to Simsbury in Connecticut. Surprisingly it was not a distraction an offers a very cool view of my perspective. I have a total of THREE GoPro's going for this flight and mixed them all together to make an enjoyable aviation experience.

I flew into IMC last week for the 1st time on an IFR flight plan from KHFD (Hartford, CT) to KCDW (Caldwell, NJ) in the clouds at 6,000'. I have a newfound respect for the IFR pilots after logging 1.1 actual today! Wow! MUCH RESPECT! I turned the inside GoPro on about 20 miles away from the airport.

Flying the Hudson River Exclusion
It’s a brisk, overcast October day, perfect for an unforgettable journey along the Hudson River! Starting over Alpine, New Jersey, we bank south in the Piper Warrior, staying close to the New Jersey side of the Hudson per FAA guidelines. My mission: keep our altitude between 1,000-1,299 feet within the corridor. As we fly south, we stay along the NJ side to ensure a smooth journey. Scratch on bucket list item off my list!

HUDSON RIVER NORTHBOUND
After entering the Hudson from the New Jersey Side and making our turn around Lady Liberty, we point our Piper Warrior Northbound and travel along the East side of the Hudson. We pass many Manhattan neighborhoods along the way. See places like, Battery Park City, Tribeca, Greenwich Village, Chelsea, Upper West Side and Hamilton Heights. We are cruising along at 1,100'. Listen to the CTAF as other aircraft are around us enjoying the views. See the busy city life and boat activity below us. See places like the World Trade Center and Intrepid Aircraft Museum.

KHFD > KMTP
I flew the Cherokee-140 from KHFD to KMTP for a change of pace, little did I know this was going to be an expensive touch-and-go. I'm told there is a $40.00 landing fee that takes pictures of the aircraft. The owner is going to receive a bill (cannot confirm this).

Controllers in the US are so much more involved with pilots than I'm used to.
I find that interesting.
