Aviation Goal for 2025

Just to get out and fly more. I don't log very many hours each year and I need to change that. I did start out the year by doing my 3 landings yesterday at 3 different airports so it's a start anyway. LOL

Buy a plane, possibly two, or three.
Realistically, it will be just one this year, although I want more.
Get my float endorsement.
Possibly start on my instrument.
More than anything though, just start flying more, the past couple years I haven't flown much.

I'd like to stay alive. :)

Goals for 25? I just want to log more hours since 2024 was the worst since I started flying in 2005. I also want to avoid any more visits from FSDO since I ended the year being grounded due to my rear window tint. What a cluster....

I knew of someone whose plane was grounded because the rear window was so foggy and crazed.

I'd like to get at least 5,500 hours in my logbook and land at my 400th airport.

Oh, wait... I've done both those things.

But I have a plan to land in Alaska, the only state I've missed.

Finish two private rating students. Do tailwheel endorsements for three people that want them. Help teach DOI off airport and float clinics. Prepare three new DOI pilots for checkrides.

And also fly interesting people to interesting places to do interesting things at work. And 300 hours of aerial wildlife surveys.

And my two highest priorities:

Fly in and out our moose hunt people and stuff next September.

Take my wife out flying just to see someplace. Between our schedules we haven’t done that in years.

Didn't know that window tint was a rule.
I tinted the back windows in all the planes I've owned, and nobody said a word to me about it, including shops doing annuals.

Well between us we have landed in all 50 states 😉
You have many more hours, and airport landings than I do though.

Don't ask, don't tell. ;) The shops I have used haven't questioned my tint, it actually 'was' installed so well it looked like a darker window. You really had to look for an edge.

How did that happen? I installed the Lowe's special cling film as recommended on POA on my 172 several years ago and no one batted an eye. Tint

I'm only guessing here but think it's a non-certified install in a certified aircraft. Anything that could be considered a permanent install would have to be approved and signed off in the log book. It would have to be certified for use in A/C and have been approved by the FAA. Cabin interiors are especially looked at for flame retardance and fumes put off if it does burn. Cling on is a temporary thing that could be removed quickly if needed.

Just found this

Someone had a pet peeve that day. Unfortunately, with human nature, things happen (or don't happen). During pre-buy of my plane, found some avionics missing and "new" ones installed. No log book entry, no one cared for the previous 8 years at least.
