The forum supports attaching a variety of different files to a post. It also supports inserting images directly into a post, by providing a link to the photo or by uploading the image to the forum. Both options are easy. If you are attempting to insert a large photo, please see the Note at the end of this help text. Thanks. :)

There are restrictions on the sizes of photos that can be uploaded:
  • The maximum size for any upload or attachment is 8MB.
  • The maximum dimensions for an uploaded image is 1600x1600.
When editing a post, the editor toolbar provides an Insert Image icon that looks like a picture:

The Insert Image icon looks like this:

Clicking on the icon will display the Insert Image form:

If you are uploading an image from your system, you can drag the image to the form or click the form to bring up a File Upload window. As soon as you drag the image or select the image from File Upload window, the image will be inserted into your post.

If you inserting an image that has a URL, click on the Link icon on the form:

Clicking on the Link icon changes the Insert Image form so it displays a place to enter your image link:

Enter the URL in the space provided and click Insert to insert the image into your post.

Note: If you are attempting to insert a large image into your post, the system will automatically resize it to reduce the disk space requirements for your image. However, XenForo's image compression routines are not as good as other options. With a large community, uploaded images can quickly require a huge amount of file space on our hosting platform. If you want to upload a large image and you would like it to look good and not take up excess space on our host, there is a very easy, very fast alternative: TinyPNG.com is an extremely fast and reliable site for compressing large images:
  1. On a new browser page, go to https://tinypng.com/
  2. Drag the photo to the TinyPng page or click on the upload space to get a file selector
  3. Wait about 5 seconds for the compression to complete
  4. Download the compressed photo
Once you have compressed the photo, you'll see how much disk space was saved by taking this simple step. Often, it's a lot! And, once you upload the compressed image, you'll be amazed at how good the compression is: it's always almost impossible to notice any difference in quality between the original and compressed photos.
