Interesting Discussion by 9/11 Fighter Pilot

She's impressive, for sure, as is her wingman for that mission. It takes a certain type of icy determination to go through a decision process that ends in "I'm going to ram the tail of that airliner and kill a couple hundred Americans to save more Americans, and odds are good that I will die in the process."
 
The Marines often use the phrase, "Semper Fi, do or die." In this case, it would be "Semper Fi, do AND die." Having planned a bunch of one-way missions as part of my job in the Air Force (which fortunately nobody was ever called upon to fly), I've always known it was a possibility, but, like Captain James T. Kirk discussing the Kobiyashi Maru scenario, never truly faced it. Unlike me and Jim Kirk, she did have to face it.
