I’m posting a review for the Caribbean Air Rally which I have had the pleasure of participating a couple of times. Here are my comments:
GROUP HANDLING: organizers have been doing this for about 20 years I believe. Since a variety of aircraft types are flying these trips they are assigning departure times according to speed. We have an air rally frequency in flight and fastest / IFR aircrafts report to those behind.
DESTINATIONS: This is a unique concept because the air rally is being welcomed by each destination. Meaning local officials are usually present upon arrival and host a welcome reception with local kids who come to meet the pilots. This makes for a safe experience and provides reassurance that the group / aircrafts will be well taken care of. Most of the time these relationships mean reduced or waived fees.
FUEL: being an event hosted by the destinations, one of the perks of these trips is that they can arrange for fuel where there usually isn’t. So if you see an airport on the itinerary and wonder… well they managed to get it for you.
EXPERIENCE: This is an adventure centered on flying, camaraderie and culture. Unlike any trip you’ll ever do. A lot of participants are repeat clientele for a reason.
I personally plan on going to the Canada Air Rally as soon as I can.
