On the subject of the USAF:

On a visit to the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton Ohio a couple of years ago, I counted eight Cessna airplanes among the exhibits.

Can you name them? (military designations or civil model numbers OK)

Now what are the Cessna civilian model numbers for the O-1 Bird Dog and the T-37/A-37? And what version of 310 was the straight-tail U-3A?

(See my album of photos from the NMUSAF here:

Thanks for the link to the Sky King series, Ward. Definitely a favorite as a youngster (always had an eye for Penny).

I have a wooden prop from a UC-78 (Cessna Bobcat/Bamboo Bomber) that makes an interesting topic of discussion.

You've got to wonder how well the thing flew on one engine. I guess you really don't - let's see, big draggy (relatively)airframe; low hp engines; non-feathering props. I guess the guys who flew it coined the phrase "It has two, because it needs two." I imagine that it did a little better with the bigger Jakes and constant speed, full feathering props that were fitted later on.

As for Penny, stay away - she's mine. Nineteen, rich uncle, and flys a taildragging twin. what more could a prepubescent boy want back in the day?

Didn't the Cessna Seneca set a helicopter altitude record that still stands?
