There's a pretty big air show going on this weekend at Westover ANG base. You probably can't fly to the base unless you get there during hours other than when the show is open to the public.

I live only a few miles from Westover, and haven't heard any happy aircraft sounds yet. The ceiling is dismally low this a.m.--only 900 feet! I keep walking out to the backyard and glaring at the sky.

I live in Cheshire and fly out of Pittsfield. I've been to the show a couple of times. Can't make it this year, though. I don't think they did any flying in the morning yesterday; not sure about the afternoon.
I've been to Barnes several times during my PPL training. I'm sure I'll be back during IFR training. It's a nice airport, and the restaurant's not bad.

Friends and I DID go Saturday afternoon--here's a pic of me and the bane of my existence, an F-15. Just kidding--but it's a joke among my fellow students that I'm always at the hold line, burning up the Hobbs meter, while 6 (gorgeous!) F-15s taxi by.
I went back first thing this a.m. to get decent pix of some of the other planes. It was tough yesterday, because it was an exceedingly hot day, and it's difficult to photograph a plane in all its glory with 3 generations of several families camped out under the wings to get out of the sun!

I grew up in Westfield, KBAF and the Warthogs (A-10's) are a part of me. This past May I was back home for a wedding and got to see Barnes from the top of the hills just to the East (East Mountain Road??). I was also there during the Halloween snowstorm last year. My poor 172 was covered in snow!
I Know this is an old thread, but the Westover show is coming up again soon. I assume that there must be a TFR for it, and I'm wondering if there's a way to find the info for it in advance. I have a friend whose father lives nearby, and we were thinking about flying into Northampton and driving down to Westover with him. That's another thing, I was also wondering if all the nearby airports get super crowded for the air show.
