Pilawt’s story brought back memories. My father’s law partner had a fishing lodge on Francois Lake in British Columbia. Every summer my parents would pack all five kids into the Rambler station wagon (and its successors), with a U-Haul trailer towed behind to carry suitcases and fishing gear, to head north for a month. We drove different routes different years, sometimes through Osoyoos, Penticton, Kelowna and Kamloops; sometimes through the Fraser River Canyon.

Once, we took a trip by floatplane to a fishing camp somewhere. Wish I had known where and appreciated it at the time. I was about 12 years old.
